Thank you to everyone for your answers to my last post!

I think I'm going to end up buying 7 meters of 152 cm wide fabric (or whatever the equivalency of 60" fabric is. I'm planning on making a version of this which <lj-user="msmcknittington"> suggested. But I'm not doing the foldover, and I'll do a front and a back separate pieces. Then I'm going to cut two 1/4 circle sections and insert them as side panels.

I'm concerned about the panels not falling quite right with the circles. I need the panels to be about 40-50" wide (won't know til I play with how that much material drapes for the top part) and 72" long, and the 1/4 circles will be about 60" long. Since the panels need to be so long, I can't just cut them on the bias, so I was thinking if I taper the panels, so the long sides are diagonal lines, and the pieces are smaller at the top and the full width at the bottom, it might be more likely to hang right with the side inserts.

Does that make sense?

I was thinking about trying to find some cheap white sheets, because they're almost the perfect dimensions, but I think it will probably be cheaper to buy fabric. I would need something like 4 twin sized flat sheets!

I don't have a large margin for error, so if you see a potential problem, please tell me!

so, I know where I would go to do my fetish/bdsm shopping
(brick n mortar)

and where i would go get bored with clubbing (i would have my own private party in front of the tv)

but if you had people flying in from overseas that wanted to get their fetish/bdsm on, where would you send them ?

(i'm wondering what i'm missing)

7/25/08 11:32 am - [info]kumimonster - NZ/Australia Dates... ? (nov/dec) attn fotogs n peeps!

Right now I have 3 events confirmed for New Zealand and Australia.
The first is the Southern Exposure Weekend and the New Zealand FetishBall in Christchurch (Nov 14-16).
The second is a smaller party in Sydney on the 21st of November (Hellfire)
The last one is in Melbourne and takes place the 29th of November.
I'll be performing with [info]fd_midori and each performance will be a different show :)

I will be returning to Sydney after the Melbourne event to fly back to San Francisco but not sure if I'll stay a bit longer (I think by the end of the trip i'll either want to get back to Cali or head home after so much traveling!)

So I'm trying to figure out which dates I will be traveling to/from cities in Australia.
How many days will I need for shoots, hanging out, sleeping, etc.

The sooner i can figure these out, the sooner i can book the flights before they get too costly.

i'm not looking for TFP. Although i have a lot of fun with it, this is my job and the way i pay for rent (and latex!)

if you're interested, please write as soon as u can and also do say which city is best! (saying "australia" doesn't help me as it's kind of big!)

7/24/08 05:21 pm - [info]burnt_isabel posting in [info]advanced_sewing - Help me please!

Here's the deal:

I'm a dancer and I'm in Paris for a couple weeks, and I've decided to make a dance for camera work, which means I need a costume pronto!

No sewing machine and need to work with the costume to really make the work, so I need it now not later.

Here's what I want, exaggeratedly long flowing dress (like 2-3 feet beyond floor length long), a light material that will be a little flowy normally and when wet will be clingy and translucent. The top, I'm not really picky about it--I want simple and feminine and as no sew as possible. I don't care about finished edges on this one, just a basic shape and silhouette, although I'd like to underplay the seems rather than going with a pieced together look.

I know it's going to take a lot of fabric to make it full and long, and I'll have to sew long side seams, but I'm not sure of the most efficient way to do the top and I'd prefer not to gather at a defined waistline to create the fullness in the skirt.

If you have any tutorials or advice to achieve anything remotely like what I just described, I promise pictures and maybe video once the project is done!

x-posted--I know this isn't advanced in a good sewing technique kind of way, but without a sewing machine and time to search for patterns or mull over how to make it work from scratch, I feel like this is one of the most challenging projects I've taken on in quite a while.

The books I was busy reading lay spread on my bed,
like a lover fast asleep after a night of sweat and warmth filled gentleness, each page touched tenderly with curiosity and love, trying to secretly unlock that which was hidden by the contents. Other parts were handled over and over again with frustration of being stuck in the vast unknown, words were known yet sounded like a extinct foreign language, forming great mysteries that were refusing to give a clue, or would just start out with a small one and then leave you standing in the dark, dazed and confused.

I hope this fits in the community.
